A Little Light Reading

I've never understood those who read in the bathroom. I just don't get it. The bathroom has a singular purpose to me. I'm all about in and out and on to the next thing. There are about 13 other spots in my house that I'd rather curl up with a good book, newspaper or magazine. The old "throne" isn't one of them.

But I think I might be raising a bathroom reader! Diaper changes have become increasingly challenging as peanut realizes he actually has to sit still for a few minutes while they take place. Sitting still is not one of his strong suits. He squirms. He kicks. The toys I typically gave him as a distraction during changes he now uses as a chance to practice his curve ball. In an effort to save myself from losing an eye, or worse (the kid's got an arm), I've started giving him books. He instantly settles in for a good read while I take care of his business.

Looks like I'm in store for a lifetime of waiting in line for my own bathroom.

LOL - Potty training should be easy then since it's already second nature to hang out and read!

I've never been a bathroom reader. Now that I'm a mom, I can't figure out how to read anything in the bathroom - let alone take care of bathroom business - while simultaneously shooing the munchkins out of the room. Sometimes I grab the newspaper or a magazine on the way into the bathroom, just so I can pretend I'm in for a long stay... then hide in there for a few minutes!

He's a real man LOL!. I agree, the toilet training should be easier!

Actually reading in the bathroom apparently increases the risk of hemorrhoids ... that's enough deterrent for me ;)

Oh, my, this is so funny! We recently discovered the same trick with Jack. He started wriggling off the changing table, making it nearly impossible to change his diaper, so one day my husband gave him Brown Bear to "read" while changing his diaper. It's like magic!

By the way, I love the name of your blog. So clever!

(I made my way here from Liz's twin blog. I hope you don't mind!)
